The Baan is an interactive model of an urban catchment that demonstrates the impact of stormwater on our rivers, creeks and bays. The model is available to schools, businesses and community in the Port Phillip and Westernport region.
Baan is a Wurundjeri word for water (pronounced 'barn').
Materials representing common pollutants are placed onto the scale model.
A rainstorm is simulated. The water flows over the landscape, picking up pollutants along the way. These pollutants are washed into our rivers and creeks, and eventually into our bay.
The model is 1.5 by 2.4 metres in size. It is transported to your school or event via a trailer. One of our education officers will deliver an education program tailored to suit the outcomes of your unit or event. Sessions are typically between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
| Booking Fee | Education Officer Fee (per hour per officer) |
|---|---|
| $175 | $35 |
Allow for 1 hour on either side of your event/session start and end time to allow our education officer to set up and pack up the model.
You will need to provide 1 to 2 adults to help lift the model in and out of the trailer. This will be the in first and last ten minutes of the set up and pack up period.
