GARDENERS GO GREEN
Landscape gardeners, horticulturalists, nursery staff and gardening industry suppliers in Melbourne are invited to free TAFE-accredited training on waterwise and environmentally sustainable gardening.
The Victorian Government's Stormwater and Urban Water Conservation Fund and Melbourne Water have combined to fund this training program being made available locally.
Presented by Sustainable Gardening Australia, the Our Water Our Future Green Gardeners program will provide practical advice and information about better gardening options. The program will cover topics including water conservation, non-invasive plants, low chemical use, reduced stormwater pollution, greater use of indigenous plants and natural soil improvement.
All presenters are qualified trainers with years of practical experience in the gardening and nursery industries.
Melbourne Water will provide $95,000 over the next three years for the Green Gardeners stormwater training sessions, aimed at protecting the health of Melbourne's rivers and creeks. Over 500 gardening professionals completed the Melbourne Water Green Gardeners course over the past year.
